What a weekend…

This past weekend just flew by! I was busy all weekend working on a "project" in the house. For some reason I got this wild hair to redo the master bathroom! First of all the bathroom had carpet in it! I can’t imagine who’s bright idea that was! It’s only a half bath, so it’s not like there’s water from a shower or tub going everywhere, but still… Carpet and bathrooms just don’t go together!

So DH pullled up the carpet for me, and then I had to go around pulling up all those dang staples they put the padding down with. That took an hour! Then I got the shop-vac and sucked up all of the dirt and staples. It’s amazing how much "stuff" gets through the carpet and padding! Where does it all come from?? Anyway, once that was done, I started taping off the trim and base boards.

I wanted something really "different" so the paint I picked is a very muted purple called Rich Amethyst. We are not afraid of color in our house! The kitchen is a cranberry red, the great room is a sage green, as is the master bedroom. Jordan’s room is a very unusual shade of pink, of course! So, I started painting, but I would have to stop every once in a while because Daddy was not doing such a great job of keeping Jordan entertained, and she kept coming up there to "help." Yeah – like I’m going to give a three year old a paint brush!

So I got the paint on the walls, and then had to go back and paint all of the trim and the vanity a cream color. My accent color is sage green, to pull in the color from the bedroom. I also used a lot of gold accents, which look so great against the purple! I haven’t gotten the floor down, and I still have to put the border up, but I just love this room! It is so rich and warm, it makes me want to stay in there all day! I wasn’t sure how DH would like it, since it is rather feminine, but he actually likes it too!

So I am aching from head to toe, still – after two days! Can we say I’m a little out of shape??? I’m not sure why this one little room made me so sore. After we bought the house 7 months ago, we repainted every room in the house, and I wasn’t this sore! I must be getting old!

Playfulweb Here’s a layout I did on Saturday with my Mossy Paper and Element packs. I just love this photo of Jordan. It’s a candid shot, and I caught her in mid-action, but this is who she is – a fast moving, jabbering three year old! Her eyes look so brown in the photo, but they’re actually more hazel.
