:: Look What I Got! ::
Yesterday was our 8 year anniversary. I called DH at work yesterday morning and said,”Do you have something you need to tell me?” I’m sure he was thinking of the worst, and said, “Uh, no, I don’t think so.” I asked again, “Are you sure there’s nothing you need to tell tell me?” He said, “Ummm…. Happy Birthday??” I said, “No! Take a look at your keys!” He keeps his wedding ring on his keys because he can’t wear it at work. He said, “OH!! Happy Anniversary!” I was just cracking up! He said, “I would have remembered!” I was like, “Yeah right!” He has the worst memory, and it’s not just stuff like this. He can’t remember anything! He’s had a few hard bumps to the head when he was riding motocross, and I’m sure that has a lot to do with it.
So the guys he works with have been wanting him to join the Masons. He’s been to one meeting already, and there was a “First Degree” for last night. He said, “If you want to go out to eat or something, I can just tell them I can’t do it tonigt.” I told him that I really didn’t have have anything planned. We can wait until this weekend and do something. Do any of you have husbands in the Masons? I really have no idea what it’s all about, only that it’s a secret men’s thing… He really didn’t know either.
Anyway, to make up for “forgetting” he brought me roses. I am really not a flower person. I think they’re pretty and all, but it just seems like such a waste of money, because they’ll be dead in a few days. I’d rather have something that last longer - know what I mean. Anyway, the roses really are beautiful, so I snapped a few photos. I wanted a really close shot of the blooms, but I don’t have a macro lens for my camera yet.. These turned out pretty good though.

So, that was the highlight of my day! He didn’t get home until around 10 last night, and he said he wasn’t sure if he was going to do the Masons thing. He said, maybe it’s just these ceremonies, but it was all pretty freaking weird. He not much of a “joiner” anyway. So, we’ll see. I’m not sure when the next thing is.
So, onto the freebie! I thought I’d share another quick page. This is perfect for any little lady in your life. The three openings at the bottom are open, and you just put your photos on a layer behind the quick page. Then your main photo actually goes on top of the quick page.

HERE is the link to download the quick page. Leave me some love, and PLEASE DO NOT SHARE THIS DOWNLOAD LINK!

Happy anniversary! I don’t know much about what the Masons do, except that it’s a fraternal order…what I’ve been able to gather is that it’s kind of like a fraternity for grown-ups. They’ve been very influential in history; lots of famous men have been members.
There’s a women’s counterpart - Eastern Stars, and there’s Demolay for young men and Rainbow Girls for young women. That’s how my mom and dad met…they had a blind date for a Demolay dance.

Tracy… Happy Anniversary! and thanks for sharing all your creative talent… I can’t wait everyday to see what you have… You inspire me…. thanks
Oh and about Masons.. my Dad was one… it is a Christian based organization. The Bible talks about Masons. It is an honor to be asked to be a Mason. And I was always told no matter where or what if you need help a Mason will help another Mason’s family. All
you have to do is let them know you’re a Mason’s kin.

thanks, Traci! Love the flowers. And the Masons are a great organization - they make up the Shriners which do so much great work for children (Shriners Hospitals). My hubby is both a mason and a shriner (an advanced mason, really). It’s all kind of secretive, but very OLD in tradition, a very worthy organization!

My dad, who used to deliver flowers with his wife for a florist, says they’re ALREADY dead once you take ‘em off the bush! LOL! Yeah…dead flowers…how romantic! LOL! I still like ‘em, but don’t NEED them to prove anything, you know what I mean?

Hey Traci!
Congrats on your anniversary! Thanks for the gift! Wonderful stuff! BTW, don’t know if you are christian or not, but here is a link to a site that explains the Masons from a Christian perspective http://www.ephesians5-11.org/testmony.htm From what I have heard in the past they have a lot of weird rituals etc. But of course, it is up to your hubby and you!
blessings,

Thanks so much!
Your husband sounds like mine. Can’t remember my birthday, the kids’ birthday’s, OR our anniversary (our 8th was earlier this year, too). I, too, would prefer jewelry to flowers, but he’s only picked out a winner once (he even bought me pierced earrings once — and I don’t have pierced ears — I just looked at him — not to mention that they were CZ, and I wouldn’t be caught dead in them — so I just take the flowers now, and don’t say a thing — I just don’t understand why it is so hard, though).
On the Masons, I know a little. My grandfather was a 32nd degree Mason (the highest level). I’m a Past Honored Queen in Job’s Daughter’s (which you can only join if you have a relative who is a Mason). As I used to explain to girls who were thinking of joining Job’s Daughters, it is an organization for young women who believe in the teachings of God and the Holy Bible. They, too, have secret rituals and teachings. I enjoyed it. The men I have known who have joined the Masons have largely done so for business networking reasons (beyond the fact that the basic tenets of the organization are consistent with their own religious beliefs). You meet some good, decent people and get together a couple of times a month. You memorize some stuff. And you have a group of people you can really rely on. I think it’s an aspect of society that we’re starting to lose in modern times, except perhaps in some of the smaller towns where those kinds of fraternal organizations are still encouraged (I know they’re going in my old hometown, but you don’t hear much about them here). Anyway, do a bit of research, try a few meetings, and then make your own choice. Good luck!!

First Happy Anniversary! We just had our 30th on the 20th of this month. Mason’s is a religion thing…my father was one, and I was invited to join the Rainbow girls…but I was too afraid of all the secret stuff…LOL kids…go figure. They should have something for the wives too. That’s all I know and mums the word on the show!

Thanks for the gorgeous quick page!! I love it!!! With 3 girls, I know it will come in handy! Roses are gorgeous! I feel the same as you–waste of money because they die so quickly, but they are really pretty–I get them for Valentine’s day each year whether I want them or not. LOL! My FIL & BIL are a Mason & Shriner. Like the others have said, it’s a very old historic group, has a lot to do with religion, just a good way for men to get together. It’s big in a lot of small towns. If you ever watched the movie “National Treasure” that came out a year or so ago, it talks about them somewhat. Lots of our founding fathers of this country were Masons.

Happy belated 8th anniverssary! Hey, mine is also 8 this year! on the 10th of October! I agree about the flowers, although I do love to get flowers, it is a waste considering they peg off pretty quickly and then they think “Cool, I got a flowers, nothing else is needed” (well in the case of my DH!) and then that’s it-no pressie or card-kinda sad! So this year i said I don’t want flowers, just a present and card! Ha-can’t wait to see! But yours were stunning. Thanks for the freebie too.

Thanks for all the freebies. Masons do a lot of good for people - especially their own. My grandfather was a Mason and my aunt was a Rainbow Girl which I think is through them. Anyways, when I became a Christian I was shocked to see what the Masons are *supposed* to be believe. I say suppsed to, because everyone knows that every Catholic doesn’t believe all the Catholic beliefs just as every Protestant doesn’t believe all the Protestant beliefs. I’m sure there are some Masons involved who don’t believe the weird stuff, but, then why would you want to be a part of a group that has such weird beliefs? Anyways, check out what they say they believe. It’s pretty weird - something involving a curse and the god Isis or it might have been another name. And the ceremony has someone robed and possibly hooded with a sword at the man’s chest, I think. It’s been a long time, but please check it out to make sure it’s something that you want to be involved wiith. I don’t think true Masons and true Christians are compatible.
