:: Changing it Up! ::
Good morning all! Jordan and I spent most of yesterday with my MIL and 16 month old nephew. Let me just say, that after yesterday I am so glad that I only have one child! It’s probably a combination of these two together, but it’s always WWIII when they’re around each other too long! Jordan is, as the only grandchild for three years, very attached to her Nana. Logan is becoming that way. In fact when my SIL comes to get him he starts crying because he doesn’t want leave. Jordan has been doing that for years! It’s a shame, but I usually have to bribe my own child to come home! I’m not really sure why - she doesn’t get away with anything more there than she does at home. She definitely doesn’t really have any more toys there than at home! Anyway, yesterday was just a pretty rough day - for both me and my MIL!!
Try going shopping with them! I have been eyeballing the couch for about a month now, and yesterday we went to Rooms to Go to take a closer look. The furniture we have now is only about 7 years old, and it’s really good furniture. Jordan and the dogs have but this stuff through Hell, and it’s starting to show! Plus, I just want to change the look of the room. In case you haven’t noticed, we are not afraid of color around our house. The great room and master bedroom are a sage/olive green. The master bath is a dusty shade of purple. The kitchen is red. Jordan’s room is an unusual shade of pink. Not to mention the orange craft room! The spare bedroom is just a boring tan! So anyway - as you can tell, we like color - LOL!
Here’s what I picked out.

It actually looks a little more red in person. Since our kitchen is red, and it’s right off the great room, I though this would help tie them together. It’s supposed to made of this micro fiber material that is perfect for kids and pets because the weave it so tight, it doesn’t let stains penetrate. Plus, I paid to have it treated with a stain guard. Hey, I don’t even have to start paying for it until 2008!! My major concern is not stain, it’s pet hair! We have two Jack Russels, and that’s a lof of white dog hair!
Check out this oil painting I found. I think it will go pefectly with the colors and funky look I want in the great room. I found it at Garden Ridge, and it’s an pretty big picture - about 4 feet x 3 feet. Jordan and I are going to go and look at curtains and area rugs here shortly.

So, the couch is supposed to be delivered tomrrow so we’ll be doing some rearranging today. I’m putting our old couch in Jordan’s playroom so we have something that we can both sit on! Right now I only have one chair for me and then a mini recliner chair for her. I have no idea what to do with the two massive chair and a halfs we have. I think I can get one of them in our spare bedroom, but I think one of them is going to have to go!
Guess what, my blog won the Blog of the Month award over at The Scrap Habit! Yeh!!

OK, so now that I have blabbered on and on about my decor…. Here’s today’s freebie. This is a sampler of my It’s All About the Elements collection. I mean, you can never have enough elements, can you? LOL!

Ooh, pretty - thanks!
You know, my oldest son always cried when it was time to come home with me - from preschool even! I think, like his Mommy, that he just likes situations that are not the norm. He loves going to the doctor, like I do, too. Anyway, both my kids have to be dragged out of their grandparents’ houses kicking and screaming, too. LOL

Thanks for the freebie.
Love the couch! It looks gigantic! Dog hair is something we are familliar with here - German shepherds and collie-shepherd mixes shed all year and their undercoat is off-white. (mix in some of their regular fur, and you get a lovely shade of puky gray.) A damp sponge rubbed accross the fabric will pull all the fur together into a moist wad of dogginess. then peel it off the sponge or couch, depending on which it sticks to, and toss. Best defense is always a good offense, so brushing the pups will help cut down on the fur balls, but you can NEVER keep up, or so experience has shown. Jack Russels are smaller, so you may have less of an issue than we have had. We bought leather furniture just so we wouldn’t have to deal with the fur on the couch and loveseat. Worked out well as ds2 has dust allergies, and leather doesn’t do a thing for dust mites. It stains though, and interesting patterns have developed. Even water can stain. Go figure - I always thought cows were water-proof.
I’ll take your chair and a half. Been wanting one for my office for eons. Gee , you live where again? Probably too far to drive. Oh well, guess I’ll wait a little longer.
Would love to see a photo of your new comfy couch in it’s new home.
Thanks for sharing!

I love the sofa too. Please keep showing us this kind of thing. I am a chicken to do anything with my home so it is pretty boring. I am afraid of making a “mistake” by buying things that don’t go together. And I am a color chicken too! Maybe I should think of my home as a giant scrapbook page since I seem to do okay with my LOs! LOVE YOUR STUFF. Thank you for it! Now can you come decorate my home please!!

Woman, you got some dang cool stuff happening over here! That couch is more evidence that you need to come and decorate my house! I have been looking for a couch forever and didn’t feel too bad that I didn’t find it because I don’t have any money for it right now … BUT now you’ve gone and made me really, really want to have the money! That would work perfectly for us too! One toddler, a big, hairy cat and a dog equally as hairy and big make for similar needs. Oh, I love your style!
And more coolness, YEAHHHHH, congrats for your win at Scrap Habit! That is awesome but also very well deserved.
And the last but certainly not least bit of coolness is that awesome element pack freebie. Thank you so very much!

Then I also wanted to give you an FYI on the hair of your Jacks, I too have two Jack Russell’s and there hair can be annoying, but I can share an awesome tip with you that my mom just recently taught me.. To get there hair off of furniture by yourself one of those old fashioned brooms that are made of straw and really tuff( i bought a hand whick) so it was easier to sweep the couch due to neck injury and let me tell you it comes out beautiful you would never know the dogs had been on the furniture…Hope that helps. I absolutely love your color choice and that picture rocks!! smile,ksf1968=kel
