After I posted the buterflies yesterday, I had a few people ask if I could post some directions for them. They are pretty simple to make, but I did jot down some instructions for you all. I think I’ve covered everything, but if you have a question, just post a comment here or email me. Here are the instructions.
- I used the butterfly custom shape tool in Photoshop, but you can do them freehand too.
- I erased the antennae and butterfly body – just keeping the wings.
- Print the butterfly out on some white cardstock. I made mine to fill up a landscaped page.
- Cut that out and use it as a template. You can also print out different sizes.
- Trace the butterfly shapes on your paper and cut them out.
- The MME cardstock was printed on both sides, which made it easy.
- I used copper wire, because I had some on hand, but you can use any heavy guage wire.
- Cut about a 12″ length of wire and fold it in half.
- Put a small bead on the wire and push it down to where the wire is folded. This will keep the larger beads from slipping off.
- Take large beads and thread both ends of the wire through them.
- Make the body as long as you’d like, using a different color for the head.
- Once you have your beads on, use needlenose pliers to curl the wire for the antennae, and spread them slightly.
- Fold one of your butterflies in half, with the design in the outside.
- Take white thread and sew the beaded body to the butterfly where it folds.
- The thread will actually go between the beads, holding it tight.
- Once you have the body attached, you will need to make the hanger
- Using another small bead or sequin, run a long length of thread through the bead, then thread your needle with both ends of the thread.
- Sew the bead to the center (roughly) of the upper wing. Pull your thread out of the needle and leave it hanging.
Do the same for the other side. - Once you have that done, pick up both lengths of thread and pick up the butterfly.
- You can then tie a knot with both lengths of thread, which will allow your wings to fall slightly.
- Use the excess length of thread to hang the butterfly.
These would look really cute hanging from a curtain rod in a window as well.

I actually got some scrapping done over the weekend too! I forgot to post these yesterday. Two layouts in one day! Whoo-hoo! The first one used my new Shabby Linens set, and the second one uses my Fly Away With Me set.

I also got a lot of new stuff added to the store! In addition to the Get Edgy Templates I posted yesterday, I have these new items in the store as well. The flowers and cardboard alpha are item that you can use over and over!

I was cruising through the Scrapbook.com gallery last night looking for some ideas for a birthday card for my sister, and look what I stumbled across… These were made with some of my Front Porch papers from My Mind’s Eye. What a thrill it is to see them being put to use – LOL!

OK, that’s it for today! I’ll try and get a new freebie up tomorrow. Have a great Tuesday!!
