I’ve been scarce the past couple of days. Tuesday I was fixing lunch for Jordan and me, and I sneezed. Immediately I felt something pull in my neck. Apparently I have something called Torticollis. It’s muscle spasms in the neck. I get these quite often, but I’ve only had one that was this bad – about 8 years ago. I had to get my MIL to take me to the emergency room, and they gave me an injection of a muscle relaxer and a pain pill. The shot didn’t help that much, but at least I could move without being in agony. I swear, you don’t realize how much your head moves when walking or riding in a car! It was totally debilitating

I spent all day yesterday on a heating pad and taking Flexeril and Naprosyn. I still do not have full range of motion back. I can’t look up or bend over without hurting, and my side to side motion is still limited. I told the ER doc that I get these a lot – for no reason at all. One time I leaned over to tie my shoe and got one! They are usually not this bad. She suggested that I follow up with my regular doctor and have him schedule a CT scan or MRI of my neck to see if there is a disc problem that’s causing it. I never knew it even had a name until I went to the ER! Apparently they can also be genetic – Jordan had one in her neck about 5 months ago that resulted in a trip to the ER. They gave her Morphine to relax her and did x-rays (even though I told them x-rays weren’t going to show anything.) One method of treatment, according to information I found on the internet, is a shot of Botox into the muscle! Hey doc, can you bring that needle up here on my forehead – LOL! Apparently it paralyzes the muscle, and helps for about three months.

I am at least able to check my email and stuff now. My neck and across my shoulders on my back just feel like someone has beat me! They are tender to the touch and still extremely tight. I just wanted to let you all know where I’ve been, and hopefully by this weekend everything will be back to normal. Well, as normal as anything gets around here!
