:: The Good, the Bad & the Ugly! ::
OK, I’ll start with the good stuff. I’m having a CT Call! This is my first in over a year, and if selected, you will be designing with items from both my store, Your-Digital Dream, and Scrapbookgraphics. I would love to have someone that can do some hybrid stuff with my designs. Just see the image below for requirements, and send your info to traci@your-digital-dream.com. I will be accepting applications through July 16th.

OK, the bad and ugly involve the same event. This made me feel soooo terrible when it happened! Jordan and I went to pick up a pizza for dinner last night, and I opened the back door of the car to sit the pizza back there, and for some reason Jordan was trying to open the front door at the same time. Well, I drive a Trailblazer, and I couldn’t see around the door to know what she was doing. Well, let’s just say she had her fingers in the wrong place at the wrong time. I shut the door and in that split second I saw her fingers in the door! She screamed and I pulled the door open and sat her up in the seat. Her three middle fingers had indentations from the edge of the door! She cried and cried, and I apologized and apologized!
She’d stopped crying by the time we got home, and I was going to put ice on them, but she didn’t want me too. It took about an hour for the marks on her little fingers to go away, and by then she was fine. I was so terrified that I’d broken her fingers! If her hand had been any bigger, I probably would have, but with the small gap between the doors and her little fingers, it just pinched them. Thank God!!

My husband came home with $100 worth of fireworks last night! It really isn’t that much stuff. We live in S.C., which is one of the few states that can still legally sell them. It wouldn’t bother me if they banned them here. I really don’t get anything out of them! I mean it’s just like burning up money! They’re too loud, and people keep shooting them way past a decent hour, which keeps our dogs raising Cain all night long! I love the ones that they have at the big shows and all, but for home, you just don’t get those pretty bursts and colors!
Well, I guess that’s it for today! I hope you all have a wonder and SAFE Fourth! Be careful with those fireworks!

Oh No Traci! I am so glad she is okay!! My mom did this to me when I was little. I didn’t break my fingers either. It’s very tragic at the time. My mom still says she feels bad and I forget about it until she says something… *HUGS*

I am so glad that Jordan is OK!!! I had a similar thing happen. We were helping my dad paint the kitchen. He went to close a window and I had just went to grab something not know he was going to close the window. He was so afraid that I would lose one of my nails because it was so bad. Fortunately I had put ice one it right away and it turned out just fine. I think I felt worst than he did because he felt so bad about it. Hope you have a great 4th of July!!!!

Traci, how tragic for Jordan, and how much it hurt you! I am glad she is ok!!! I think that happens to all us mommies, but it still doesn’t make it feel any better to us. I hope you enjoy your fireworks and the 4th of July!!! Deb P

Thank goodness for little fingers! They are so forgiving. Glad Jordan is okay. Have a safe and happy Fourth, and good luck with your CT call. I’m sure there are plenty of fantastic scrappers out there who would be happy to be on your team.

Oh man… I did that to my son’s fingers not too long ago. I drive a car, but my husband left me the van, which I rarely drive… he was climbing in the car and before I knew it I had shut the front passenger side while he was using the frame to grip. I was lucky.. it was padded well.. I cried more than him I think.
I soooo share your opinion of fireworks. Injuries, noise, money - but it’s always exciting for kids I guess…. man, what a bummer I am.

So glad Jordan is ok….I’ve been in her shoes and it does hurt. So glad it wasn’t any worse.
I hope you guys have a great 4th….lots of our neighbors drive to SC (all of 11 miles to the border), so we get to see and hear it all too. Luckily, my DH is out of town so I don’t have to deal with it personally this year!
*although, i think i’d rather have him here really*

I am sure that in the long run you will feel worse about Jordans fingers than she will. Two of mine had similar circumstances happen ( with one it was me the other Dad got the privilege) Neither remembers but it is FOREVER etched in our brains :oP
And fireworks… they are a guy thing. Anything that explodes has their attention. WE have an agreement around here Robert watches chick flicks with me and I promise that every now and then he gets to watch something where things get blown up :oD

Glad Jordan’s fingers are okay! My mom did that to me when I was about Jordan’s age. I’m in my late 40s, and those car doors were huge and heavy! I can vaguely remember the incident, but I honestly don’t remember the pain. My mom occasionally mentions it, and she still feels bad! I tell her that I don’t ever think about it until something reminds me.
I much prefer fireworks at a show, too. The rain and flooding has cancelled a lot of area shows, and since tomorrow is a work day, we’ll not be going to watch fireworks this year. Fireworks are not allowed in most major cities here in Texas. They are usually sold right outside city limits. Nonetheless, we always hear fireworks, especially those darn Black Cats!
Enjoy your 4th! We’ll be enjoying DH’s brisket with the trimmings!

I’m so glad Jordan’s fingers are okay! It’s bad enough when the kids hurt themselves, but when we do it…yikes! Enjoy your fireworks!

Aaaaah! As I was reading I could just envision the whole thing happening. Poor both of you. I’m just so thankful that Jordan was alright. Parents definitely flip out more than the kids too. We can have something happen and think about years later with the same feelings erupt, yet the kids (thankfully) won’t even know what we’re talking about. Oddly enough “something” like this always seems to happen in every family ~ it’s inevitable and who knows why.
For me Cartel was probably a year and a half. He was sitting in a chair and I was sitting on the floor right beside him. The doggie barked and I turned my head for a split second. In that very moment he fell off the chair (that boy never stopped). I was totally freaked. He didn’t cry and then he did. I was a new mom and he was my first (and only) child. I called my doctors office right away and told the nurse what happened because I didn’t know if I should bring him in to be looked at. To my total SHOCK not only “wasn’t” she helpful, she intonated that “I call to often and maybe I just don’t know how to look after my baby”. I hung up on her after telling her what I thought of her phone manners. Can you believe a nurse saying this to a mom whose baby just fell down!!! Thank GOD, Cartel was kooing away while all this was going on and everything was fine. Needless to say, I changed doctors after that incident, but if I could have jumped through that phone…..@!!!%$*
BTW, my mother accidentally smacked me in the face with a plate, which gave me a black eye. Her reaction was hysterical laughter. I also remember flying over a shopping cart once (with my mother there). Same reaction. She seemed to get a real kick out of me getting injured. I must have made funny faces. Oddly enough, so does Cartel. To the point where I told him I might be a goner by the time he actually makes the 911 call because of his laughing fits. I think I have a slightly disfunctional family ~ but we all have a story and we love them anyway don’t we
Thank you for the lovely alpha’s and kiss Jordan for me. ((hugs))

Poor Jordan! I’m glad she’s ok though- I think it happenes to everyone at some point! Fireworks are illegal here but we have a bunch of neighbors who do them anyways- it scares me!
