First Day! What a nightmare!

Yesterday was Jordan’s first day of first grade! She was so excited! The traffic was horrendous! I tried to get her to walk to school since it’s only about a 10 minute walk, but she didn’t want to. So into the car we go, and as we drove to school, we were beat to the school by people that were walking! It took me 25 minutes to get 1/2 mile up the road, and she ended up being 15 minutes late for her first day of school! Here she is with her new backpack that she picked out. The saying on the front is so fitting for her - IT”S ALL ABOUT MEOW! It truly is all about this little girl!

She wasn’t the only one late though, there were cars backed up as far as you could see behind us and coming from the other direction it was just as bad. The major problem was the sheriff’s patrolman that was serving as a crossing guard! He kept stopping the cars to let one or two people cross the road instead of waiting until there was a large group of people to walk across at one time. It was total chaos! One of the volunteers that was helping direct traffic kept saying, “What is he doing???” Then she finally yelled at it him, “You need to let these cars go! You have traffic backed up all the way around the block!”

The afternoon pickup was even worse. They changed the way kids were being picked up and didn’t bother to let any of the parents know! Now you are not allowed to park on the side of the road to wait for the buses to get out of the bus loop. We have to park in a church parking lot and be led to the school when the buses are out of the bus loop. It took me 40 minutes to get her! Idiocy - total idiocy! I am sure the principle had a ton of nasty calls from parents!

It turns out that is was the city that didn’t want cars parked on the side of the road. They said that they were going to be giving out tickets to anyone that was parked on the side! That is so friggin’ stupid! At least the cars were out of the road, and not tying up the entire road for 45 minutes! Why do they want to mess with a perfectly good system that has worked for years??

This morning we did walk to school, but the traffic situation was not nearly as bad as yesterday. I would walk to get her this afternoon, but it’s supposed to be 95 today, and she’s usually ill and tired when she gets out and so not in the mood to walk home. Hopefully things will go much smoother today.

I also added a TON of new stuff to my Etsy shop! The scrabble tile pendant are BUY 2, GET 1 FREE, plus you only paying shipping on the first one! I have a huge variety of colors and styles!
